ARLINE BOTHAM

"Kindness Incarnate"

Peacefully on May 11, 2024, Arline Botham passed away at Golden West Centennial Lodge just shy of her 88th birthday. Arline was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Doris Jamieson, brother Allan Jamieson (Merle) and her one true love - husband Royal Botham.

She is survived by her sister Susan (Winston), son Scott (Kathy), daughter Julie (Jim) and daughter Kathy (Jim) Also left to mourn her passing are grandchildren, Melinda, Beth and Erin, as well as great-grandson Aaron.

Arline spent the majority of her life working as a nurse and caring for others. Even after "retiring" she was still helping with things like the mobile breast screening clinic and picking up the occasional nursing shift. She, along with husband Roy, were also very involved in the Charleswood Senior Centre where she loved the many activities and the many friendships that she made.

To know Arline was to know love and kindness. There truly wasn't a mean bone in her body. Putting others first - especially her family - was her adage.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for their great care in the last five years, especially Virginia and Wendy.

A memorial for Arline will take place at Thomson Funeral Chapel at 669 Broadway in Winnipeg, on Friday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m.

Today would have been your birthday Mom. We hope that you are celebrating and eating cake with family, friends and especially Roy.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Dear Family, Your mom's (auntie/nana) passage to the land of mystery has been noted by many Misericordia Nurses. The lovely obit you wrote started a whole string of emails through the "MIZ" email chain. Arline worked for many years with us at Misericordia. Usually as a float nurse. Which translates into her having to be ready for anything on any ward at anytime. And she was! We were so happy when Arline showed up on our ward. She was kind, gentle and professional, always. A sweet role model for all. So happy to hear she was well cared for as she cared for others. - Posted by: Jan Ballingall (colleague ) on: May 24, 2024

  • Our thoughts of Arline are of nothing but kindness and concern of others. She was a great cook also. Lorraine and Dan - Posted by: Lorraine & Dan Lewis (Sister-in-law and brother in law) on: May 22, 2024
