Marjorie Caroline Olmstead, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many, passed away on May 12, 2024 in Sidney, British Columbia. She was born on July 21, 1932 in Swan River, Manitoba. Marjorie was predeceased by her loving husband Oliver Glen and sisters Helen and Edith.
Marjorie is survived by brother Albert and her children Don (Linda), Adele (Dan), Elaine (Gerry), Gail (Don) and her grandchildren Jeanette (Kyle), Amanda, Becky (Joe), Bryce (Kristi), Brent (Jaci), Clara (Jess), Marie, Jennifer (Madison), and Jessica. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life Marjorie embodied the qualities of playfulness and generosity. She found joy in playing with her grandchildren and was always open to a conversation with everyone she met. Her pride in her 43 years of marriage to Oliver Glen was evident to all who knew her. She had a creative spirit as she loved to write short stories and poems, creating many of them for the family to cherish.
Her adventurous spirit led her to travel to many places from Branson, USA to Paris to Hawaii; she embraced new experiences with an open heart - from clogging to parasailing - never shying away from trying something new. As a Red Hatter member she participated enthusiastically in lunches, parties and games that brought lasting memories into the lives of those around her.
Marjorie's strong faith guided her through every chapter of life; it provided comfort during times of hardship and served as a source of strength for herself and others around her.
The family would like to extend special thanks Dr. Chris Dowler for his compassionate care during Marjorie's final days.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Marjorie will remember not only the love she shared but also that she was forthright and honest in her speech, and everyone knew where they stood. Her legacy will live on through the memories created with loved ones over countless adventures shared together.
A Memorial Service will be held at Carberry United Church on June 13 at 1:00 p.m.
