PHYLLIS (ANASTASIA) MICHALYSHYN

March 23, 1921 - May 16, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend.

Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Virginia Groshak, Annette (Ron) Manuliak, three grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Tracy Groshak; four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ashley, Emma, Abby Groshak; her two sisters, Helen Fustey and Marie Koroscil, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Theodore (Dorko) Michalyshyn, her daughter Terri Borody, her mom and dad, Wasyl and Mary Dutka, two brothers and four sisters.

Phyllis spent most of her life in Oakburn, MB, first on the farm and then retired in the town of Oakburn. She was a very resourceful, hard worker, loved cooking and baking (her passion) and gardening. Phyllis was an excellent cook, especially in Ukrainian cuisine and so famous for her Borscht that she was hired to cook for many huge weddings, church events and for five years cooked at the Kiev Pavilion during Folklorama with Ronettes Catering.

Phyllis will always be fondly remembered as a very kind, generous and helpful person.

The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Paul’s Unit for the care and compassion during her time at Holy Family Home.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at the family plot in Oakburn, MB. We encourage everyone who knew Phyllis to think fondly of the wonderful memories they had with her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

A Person So Very Rare”

She was a person, so very rare Whenever we needed her, she was always there; She shared our hopes, our joys, our tears, We are thankful for those precious years. Her life was so unselfish, for others she lived Not to receive, but to always give Treasure Her God; in your Garden of Rest For in our world, She was the Best. We love you Mom and will always keep you close to our hearts!

Rest in Peace, Mom
