William “Ross” Bailey, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on May 26, 2024, in Brandon, Manitoba, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom and cherished memories. Ross's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and the joy of sharing his knowledge with others.
Born to Bill and Olive Bailey on November 15, 1950, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, the family moved to Brandon when Ross was three years old. Ross was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Patricia “Pat” Bailey, and a loving father to his daughters, Melissa (James Nakonechny) and Jennifer Bailey (Jochebed Giesbrecht). His grandchildren, Ethan and Melania Nakonechny, brought great joy to his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Ross was also a cherished brother to Sharon Smith (Jack Lazareck) and Wilson Bailey (Kathy Brigden) and brother-in-law to Gary (Carol) Taylor, Val Taylor and Rick Taylor.
Ross, affectionately known to his co-workers as "Skinny", found great fulfillment in his lifelong career with Manitoba Telephone System (MTS) beginning in 1972. He took great pride in each and every task, going above and beyond to ensure a job well done. His dedication to his work was unparalleled. After retiring from MTS in 2007, he worked continuously right up to the time of his passing. He and his little red Chevy S10 were a recognizable duo to many.
Ross found joy in the simple pleasures, whether it was working in his garden, sharing his vast knowledge with others, or spending time with family and friends. His wealth of knowledge was a gift to all who knew him. He was one of those rare individuals who had the ability to fix almost anything. His guidance and support were invaluable to those who sought his help. His willingness to lend a helping hand and his compassionate nature left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
He was passionate about health and wellness, and his commitment to living a fulfilling and active life inspired those around him.
As we mourn the loss of Ross, we take comfort in the memories we hold dear and the lessons he imparted. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Though Ross requested no formal service to honour his life, his memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who knew him.
Ross's legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

It was a shock to here of Skinnies passing. He was the man who was to outlive us all by his work ethic and healthy lifestyle. He was one of the hardest workers and treated MTS like he owned the company. He never thru anything out that could possibly be used or reused. He was the ultimate employee. Regardless of the many situations as a technician could experience in customer's homes, I would say he had an iron stomach and nose. Ross always talked about his garden and the many things that were healthy for you or what vitamins and minerals a food that many would not even think of eating had. Skinny it is hard to believe you have left this world. Wherever you are, may your new home benefit from your presence. - Posted by: Calvin Yanchycki (Fellow MTS CoWorker) on: Jun 12, 2024
