DEANNE MORSE

Born on April 24, 1933, passed away on May 30, 2024, at the age of 91.

Five weeks after celebrating her 91st birthday, while hosting her regular Friday Night “Happy Hour” with all of her 18 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spouses, along with her niece Kelly Morse, Mom passed away peacefully at the Carman Memorial Hospital.

Deanne was predeceased by her husband Marvin (Joe) of 32 years and left behind her children, Bob (Allison), Mark, and Grant (Barb), grandchildren, Tyler, Jan (Michelle), Whitney, Lauren (Matt), Lexi (Alex), and Jillian, and great-grandchildren, Casey, Ellis and Harlow.

Deanne will be missed by her sister-in-law Louise Morse.

Deanne was predeceased by her parents, Gabriel (Barney) and Millie Mollot, her brother Grant Mollot and her stepmother Gilberte (Jill) Mollot; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Cindy Burns, Alan and Lillian Burns, Harold and Maisie Shirtliffe, Eugene (Zack) Morse, Leroy (Buck) and Doreen Morse and Odiel and Doreen Dusessoy.

Mom was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and spent her early years in Fannystelle, Manitoba. At a very young age of six she lost her mother and brother in a tragic house fire. Shortly after she and her grandmother moved to Winnipeg to live where she later attended, boarded, and graduated school from St. Mary’s Academy. She went on to graduate business school in Winnipeg. She met and later married Dad on October 22, 1955, and shortly thereafter moved to the Morse family farm in Starbuck, Manitoba. In the early years they spent many weekends and summer vacations at “Daddy’s” cottage at Pelican Lake and later with Dad and kids in tow visiting Grampa and Grandma (Jill) in Brandon in summer and Palm Springs, California in winter. After Dad’s passing in 1987 Mom was extremely close to and spent many winters with Grandma (Jill) in Palm Springs. She had a very special bond with all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When the school bus dropped the kids off after school the first stop was always Grannie’s before heading home.

Mom was very active in the community of Starbuck. She worked and served on many boards and committees and was instrumental in the building of the community centre in the early 1970s. She founded the first Nursery School Program in Starbuck.

Mom relied on CancerCare Manitoba for many years of treatment and would like to thank Dr. V. Banerji, who she considered a saint, for her unwavering support. She was also grateful for the care she received for the time spent at Carman Memorial Hospital and would like to thank all of the staff there.

In keeping with Mom’s wishes a final private family “Happy Hour “will be held at the farm at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Richard and I want to send our sincere condolences to Bob, Mark, and Grant, and their families on the passing of their wonderful mother, Deanne. Our Aunty Dee was a remarkable woman, kind, generous, loving, always ready to help out. Her home was always open to family and friends for a quick visit or an extended vacation. She took on more than her share of the responsibilities for family gatherings and was the main caregiver to our Morse grandparents as they aged. She always spoke of her love for her children and grandchildren, she was so very proud of all of them and all they had accomplished. Deanne always remarked that she had had a wonderful life and never dwelt on the sorrows she had experienced as a young child nor the profound sadness of the loss of her beloved Joe at such a young age. Always smiling, we will remember her for her good nature and kind heart. She will be missed by so many. Much love to the family, Penny and Richard Blouw - Posted by: Penny and Richard Blouw (Niece ) on: Jun 21, 2024

  • We have known Deanne since the 1980's. Deanne was such an impressive community minded person and a great role model to other people in the community. Starting the Nursery School was such a super idea and we all appreciated her determination. The Nursery School gave so many young children a chance to socialize with other young children and many of those children went on to be life long friends. Deanne always had such a friendly smile which made you feel comfortable in social gatherings. Good bye, Deanne- all who knew you will miss you. You truly lived a wonderful life! • That smile on her picture was always in her face. From what I remember growing up and visiting her, was her warmth and compassion. She glowed with her outer beauty and inner beauty. My condolences to her loved ones. We were all so blessed to have her in our lives. Godspeed, Deanne. Thank you. - Posted by: Jocelyn Greenwood (Family ) on: Jun 08, 2024
