SHANNON IVERSON
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Shannon, beloved wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, friend, and colleague. Shannon departed on June 20, 2024, at the young age of 52.
Born on January 31, 1972, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Shannon attended Elmwood High School before pursuing studies in criminal justice and sociology at the University of Winnipeg. She dedicated her career to health and safety at Bison Transport, where she met her husband, Iain. Shannon and Iain exchanged vows on October 8, 2004. Later, she excelled as the Human Resources Manager at Fort Garry Industries, where she worked for over 15 years, forging deep and lasting friendships among her colleagues.
Shannon was known for her kindness and selflessness in every aspect of her life. Her compassion extended beyond professional obligations, touching the lives of countless friends, family members, and colleagues. She will be missed tremendously. Gatherings of family and friends will not be the same without her.
In her leisure time, Shannon found joy in crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that she often gifted to loved ones. She kept many family and friends warm in the cold Winnipeg winters. Shannon also had a passion for culinary adventures and loved to try new foods, researching new restaurants with enthusiasm (again, to the great benefit of her family and friends).
Travel was another of Shannon's great passions. Among her cherished memories was a visit to Edinburgh with Iain to experience the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Beyond her professional and personal commitments, Shannon was a dedicated advocate for animal welfare. She found immense joy in adopting and caring for pets, supporting organizations like the Boston Terrier and Pug Rescue of Manitoba and the Winnipeg Humane Society. Shannon's commitment to animal rights reflected her deep-seated belief in compassion and care for all living beings.
Shannon is survived by her devoted husband, Iain Iverson; her father, Jim Ross; stepmother, Susan Ross; stepfather, Ed Nielsen; mother-in-law, Nancy Iverson; aunts, Kim Klassen (Rod), Randy Schulz and Christine Ross; sisters, Meghan Ross (husband Eddie and son Jack) and Allison Gnutel (husband Stephen and children, Aubrey and Henry); brother David Ross (wife Bobbi and children, JD and Faith); sister-in-law Shona Iverson (and Kasper Iverson); cousins, Jason Curcio (Julia), Candace Curcio (husband Jody and son Ethan), Cameron Ross (wife Kimmy and children, Duncan and Mackenna), Nolan Curcio (wife Aron and children, Connor and Oscar), and Brooklyn Curcio (Jason); along with numerous friends. Shannon was predeceased by her mother, Cheryl Nielsen; uncles, Don Ross and Wolf Schulz; grandparents, Marion and Russell Ross, and Dick and Marg Klassen; father-in-law, Clarence Iverson; and pets, Daisy and Luna.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre who were kind and caring, in particular those working on GD4.
Family and friends are invited to honour Shannon's life at Breezy Bend Country Club, 7620 Roblin Boulevard, on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 2:00 p.m.
Donations in Shannon's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or another pet rescue organization of your choice.
