WILHELMINA GEERTRUIDA HARTLOPER

Sadly, after enduring illness, Oma Willa (Wilhelmina Geetruida Immer Hartloper) gently passed away with sons by her side at Riverview Health Centre on June 27, 2024.

Predeceased by her husband Hank in 2021 and her sister Lydia in 2022; survived by sons, Jurgen, Derek, Vincent and youngest son Justin, sisters, Yvonne, Pien, and brother Hans Immer, sister-in-law Ria Hijmans-Visser.

Willa and Hank married in Holland in 1959, and moved to Canada in 1960, first settling in Toronto, then in Winnipeg where they lived since 1962, and particularly in Wildwood Park from 1966 to 2022, where they brought up their four boys in a wonderful family neighbourhood. With enduring love and strength, the Hartlopers raised four boys with no extended family help, and they all became educated and involved in sports, music, and families of their own. Willa loved piano and classical music, and took up tennis in her 30s, soon becoming a contender in the Manitoba tennis scene, and champion in her senior age categories. She loved scrabble, bridge, spending fun evenings with friends, lakes, beaches, and travelling. She leaves fond memories to her four boys, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Riverview Health Centre, who took wonderful care of both Hank and Willa in their final weeks.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Hi Cousins. I did not know Hank and Willa passed away until now. The best times I remember was when I flew up and spent time with all of you on the lake. I still have those photos of that trip and of your dad on the horse, playing tennis with your mom, and even "helped" in the softball team! I think of you all so much and wish we could get back in touch. Much love, Johnnie Lynn - Posted by: Johnnie Smith (Cousin) on: Jan 22, 2025

  • Hello Vince and Hartloper boys, I have many happy memories of both your parents at the tennis club. They were always very kind and considerate with me and I remember my mother also enjoying chatting with your mom by the pool. They would trade notes on raising boys! (My mother always appreciated your mom’s insights). I know this is a loss for you but take consolation that your parents left a legacy beyond their own family. Take care. - Posted by: Joseph Langan (Friend) on: Jul 07, 2024
