JEFFREY PETER OSTASH

July 21, 1961 - July 8, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeff Ostash on July 8, 2024 at the age of 62 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Laurie (Mark), brother Wink, stepsister Colleen (Harry), sister-in-law Jane, nieces Cara (Andrew), Kelly (Eric) and Alex, nephews Eric (Maria), Danny and stepmother Betty as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. He is predeceased by his father Harvey Ostash, his mother Judy Lynne Warnock, his stepfather Wayne Warnock and his brother Brad Ostash.
Jeff was born in Winnipeg and spent his formative years playing hockey and hanging out with the neighbourhood kids at Crescentwood Community Club. After graduating from Oak Park High School, Jeff tried his hand at various jobs before finding his passion in the kitchen. Chef Jeff attended culinary school at SAIT in Calgary. He then began a series of adventures which would take him around the world, working as a sous-chef and then as executive chef in far-off locales from the Caribbean in the south to Iqaluit in the north. He eventually found his people on Bowen Island, B.C. where he became a well-loved and integral member of the community.
Jeff could light up any room with the gleam in his eye and his infectious laugh. Not one to sit on the sidelines, he enthusiastically embraced life. He was kind and funny and had a naturally warm and gentle nature, all of which made him a sought-after companion. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed outdoor pursuits of any kind.
He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends around the world.
The lives of Jeff and his brother Brad, who passed one month before him, will be celebrated together at a later date.
A separate Celebration of Life will be held for Jeff by his island family on Bowen.
