Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) ACKLAND
It is with profound sadness that we announce Jack passed away on July 11, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born September 4, 1951, and is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jeanette, his son Tom and wife, Christina, grandchildren; Hannah, Jackson, Nick, Ivorie and Athena, brother Jim (Gloria) and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Allan, his mother, Pearl and brothers Alan and Russell.
Growing up in Ft. Rouge he enjoyed many hours at Lord Robert Community Club playing basketball, baseball, football and hockey.
Jack attended Churchill High School and played basketball but excelled in football as a quarterback for the Churchill Bulldogs. He was inducted into the CHS Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Manitoba Hall of Fame in 2016. Every year he looked forward to and wouldn’t miss the Hall of Fame Alumni dinner. He had many fond memories that he truly cherished of the years coaching Hockey and Football.
He retired from MLCC in 2013 after over 30+ years of service.
He was blessed with five grandchildren that he truly adored and loved.
Summers, you could always find him at the pool socializing with neighbours discussing anything and everything but especially the Jets and Bombers.
A special thank you to the Doctors and nursing staff at Grace Hospital for their compassion during this very difficult time. A Huge Thank You to best friends, Barrie and Cathy Daman for always being there.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life is planned for September.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

I had the privilege of working with Jack for a couple of years at the MLCC. He always greeted me with a smile and friendly conversation. He was well liked by all the staff and a pleasure to work with. My condolences to Jacks family during this very difficult time. - Posted by: Jane Thom (Co-worker) on: Jul 20, 2024
