Verna passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on July 18, 2024, at Park Manor PCH.
Verna was born on July 14, 1932, and raised in Hodgson Manitoba. She later attended high school at St. Mary’s Academy. Verna had a 39-year career with C.N.R as an Employment Interviewer until her retirement in 1990.
Verna is predeceased by her father Fred in 1973 and her mother Mary in 1982.
During the earlier years, she was a member of various clubs in Winnipeg, including the Badminton Club, Canoe Club and Duplicate Bridge Club. She also enjoyed curling and bowling in the CN leagues. In later life, she participated in aerobics and volunteered at the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. She had a great sense of humor and loved entertaining at dinner parties with her amazing cooking.
Verna particularly liked travelling, especially to Hawaii, where she spent 30 enjoyable winter vacations, she also travelled to England, Switzerland, Italy, France, Hong Kong, Bali, Singapore and Bangkok. One of her most enjoyable holidays was a 10-day bus tour of Newfoundland.
A sincere thank you to the staff at Park Manor for your grace and compassion. The care you provided was truly amazing.
In accordance with Verna’s wishes a private service will be held at Cropo Funeral Home.
