AIKO IRENE TATSUMI
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Tatsumi on June 22, 2024.
Irene is survived by her daughter Cathryn (Mark) Hanssen; son Kenji (Corinne), Chloe and Samuel; sister Kuni Omotani; sister-in-law Laura and niece Alyssa Darnell-Omotani. Irene was predeceased by her parents Fusaichi and Sumiye Omotani; her husband Suehiro Tatsumi, and brother Yuta Omotani.
Irene will be remembered for her friendliness, sense of humour, thoughtfulness and helpfulness. After retirement Irene enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren, Chloe and Samuel and her dogs, Riley and Jasper. She also enjoyed travelling, volunteering, gardening, and going berry and mushroom picking with her friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Whistle Bend Place in Whitehorse for their wonderful compassionate care during Irene's stay.
The family also would like to express special thanks to Marlene, Joanne, Karen, Val and Helen for all their help.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Japanese Cultural Association, 180 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, MB R3E 2J9 or The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

Kenji and family I am sorry to read of the passing of your Mom Irene as I knew her. She was a wonderful lady and always smiled and stopped to talk even if was for just a couple of minutes.
