Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROL AGNES DUNCAN
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carol Agnes Duncan (nee Worthington) at age 83 on April 19, 2024.
Carol was pre-deceased by her loving husband Donald Duncan; father John Worthington; mother Agnes Worthington; sisters, Bev Storey and Sylvia Ruddock; brothers-in-law, Charlie Moore, Gary Storey, Bill Duncan, Ken Duncan, and Jack Wightman; and sisters-in-law, Marion Duncan and Rosemary Duncan; and daughter-in-law Karen Duncan (nee Watson). She will be missed and remembered by sister Joan Moore; brothers, Bill Worthington (Leslie) and Ron Worthington (Judy); brother-in-law Percy Ruddock; sister-in-law Doris Wightman; her children, Kim, Steve and Dave (Linda); grandchildren, Sean (Amanda), Archie, Eric, Kyle (Jeanette), Tyler and Sarah; her great-grandchildren, Zoe, Nora, Noah, Seth and Eli; her many nieces and nephews; as well as other extended family and friends.
Carol was born in Winnipeg on May 14, 1940, and grew up in the West End and Fort Rouge neighbourhoods where she attended Fort Rouge Elementary School and Kelvin High School. As a teenager, Carol worked at local grocery stores. In her 20s, she landed a job with Air Canada. The free Air Canada employee passes sparked the travel bug within, and she would regularly take to the beaches of the sunny Caribbean to escape the cold.
Carol met Don, the love of her life, in 1972 and they were married in 1973. She quickly embraced Don’s children Kim, Steve and Dave as her own “instant family” and enthusiastically took on the role of wife, mother and homemaker.
After meeting Don, she adopted his appetite for golf, and they were regulars at Niakwa Country Club for many years. Their combined passion for travel and golf often led them to vacation at golf destinations in Spain and throughout North America. After Don passed away in 1998, Carol continued to golf and travel to visit family and friends.
Family was at the core of Carol’s life; for her, her most important role was that of daughter, sister, wife, mother and auntie. She was affectionately known as “Scooter” by family and friends due to her energy and passion for her loved ones. It was infectious and she never tired of it.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Riverwood Square and at Actionmarguerite for the compassionate care they provided to Carol over these last few years. Finally, thank you to her special friend Charlotte for her help and support.
A Celebration of Life is to be held in honour of Carol in Winnipeg on the afternoon of Sunday, August 25, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to attend. If you are planning to attend and would like further information about location and time, please let us know by e-mail at:

I know Brenda [receptionist] would join me in sending our sincere condolences to Carol’s entire extended family. We never saw Carol without a smile on her face and her accompanying giggle, which would brighten and lighten any room she entered.
