KIMBERLY (KIM) RICHARD DAY

July 3, 1957 - July 26, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kim who passed away on July 26, 2024 at the age of 67.
Kim was born in Flin Flon and moved several times during his childhood and eventually settled back there.
Over the years he worked various jobs for contract minors. He finally found his dream job as a roof-bolter working underground for HBM&S until his departure to Winnipeg to further his education. It was a job that he would reminisce about.
It was important to Kim to face his fears head on. He obtained his high school diploma as an adult with excellent results. In 1989, he received his diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology at Red River College.
Volunteering was important to him, whether it be at the St. Boniface Hospital, Correction Services or Recovery Programs to show gratitude for the help he received during difficult times in his life.
He was an avid pool player in his younger years. Living in the North provided tranquility through nature, fishing and camping. Travelling to British Columbia on several occasions held a special place in his heart. His love for woodworking permitted him to share his passion with others through gift giving. Attention to detail was very important to him and it showed in everything he did.
He is survived by his wife Leona; sister Jeanette (John) Bjarnason; half-sister Michelle (Ken) Oliynyk; mother-in-law Mary Trotz; brother-in-law John (Thelma) Trotz; sister-in-law Jeanette Rigby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Thank you for the compassionate care that Kim received from his physicians, the CancerCare Team at McDermot and the Palliative Care Team over the years.
At Kim’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service.
Remember me in life and not death. Death is not the end of one’s existence, it is the closing of one experience, before beginning another.

Think of me as one at rest,

The living thinking me that was,
is now forever still
And life goes on with me now,
as time forever will.

If your heart is heavy now
because I’ve gone away
Dwell not long upon it friend
For none of us can stay
Those of you who liked me,
I sincerely thank you all
And those of you who loved me,
I thank you most of all.

And in my fleeting lifespan,
as time went rushing by
I found some time to hesitate,
to laugh, to love, to cry
Matters it now if time began
If time will ever cease?
