LUCILLE GIROUARD

November 29, 1931 - July 27, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Lucille (Sabourin, Desharnais) Girouard, on July 27, 2024, at 92 years old. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Luc Girouard; her children Claudette (Doug Baldwin), Hélène (René Lacasse), Suzanne Low, Daniel (Maureen Galloway), Rachel (Maurice Cahill), Luc; as well as step-children Daniel Girouard, Nicole (Tony Bonomo), and Micheline (Richard Zet). She was predeceased by her daughter Monique Wally, son Alain Desharnais, and son-in-law Doug Low.

Lucille’s life was a living example of who she was, a compassionate, gentle, caring, supportive wife, mom, mémère and grand-mémère. Her unconditional love nurtured us through life's challenges and greatest achievements. She lived her life with love, grace, tenderness and humility. Her Catholic faith has kept her strong in good times and in hard times. She truly was a gift to her family and friends.

Mom was especially devoted to the sick, the elderly and persons with special needs. She volunteered countless hours to Faith & Light, an organization for persons with intellectual disabilities who gather to share faith, friendship and celebrate life.

Mom had many talents, not afraid to try new projects and easily mastering them - she was an excellent cook, seamstress, pottery artist, photographer, she even taught herself, her grandkids and even her great grandkids the art of juggling! She took advantage of many trips to explore the world; Haiti, Israel, Egypt, Bolivia, France, Italy, Alaska as well as all of Canada. She kept her mind active by playing Scrabble online, doing puzzles, reading books and playing on her iPad.

Thank you, Mom, for the million and one things you have done for your family. You were truly an inspiration to all that were lucky to have known you. Your journey on earth is over but we will feel your hugs, hear your laughter and love you forever. Rest in peace.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the St-Pierre-Jolys Catholic Church on Wednesday August 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Private interment to follow at the St-Pierre-Jolys Cemetery.
