Irene Swanton (nee Melnyk) passed away on July 23, 2024 in Surrey, B.C. Irene was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and lived there until her entire family moved out west in 1989. Irene was pre-deceased by her husband Barry in 2021. Left to mourn are her three children Kelly (Mike), Dean and Jane (Marco) along with her grandchildren Lauren, Landon and Regan who all loved her dearly.
Irene spent her last working years employed by the Surrey School Board where she was well liked by staff and students. She had a friendly nature and often struck up conversations with complete strangers. The family home back in Winnipeg was always a social setting where neighbours and friends came for lively conversation, laughs and a game of cribbage. Even in the final few months of her life while in long term care Irene continued to be her chatty self and make new friends. She will be greatly missed.
As per her wishes there will be no service.
