It is with profound sadness that the family of Noreen Bracken (née Wonnek) announces her sudden passing on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the age of 83, at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario.

Noreen was a remarkable woman whose life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and resilience. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 65 years, Lars, with whom she shared a life full of adventure and companionship. Together, they raised five wonderful children: Ralph (Lana), Barb (Phil), Glenda, Bruce (Mary), and Trina. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Aleisha, Christine (Shane), Brett, Kurt (Bedros), Michael, Steven, Samantha (Terry), Gary (Anastasia), Alexandria, and Genevieve, and her beloved great-grandchildren, Eli, Annaliese, Griffin, Lily, Sven, Emma, Amelia, and Parker. Noreen's caring spirit also touched her sister, Grace (Roger), her brother, Raymon (June), her brothers-in-law Rusty (Bev) and Lockie (Elaine), and her sisters-in-law Wilma (Jim) and Esther, along with countless other family members and dear friends.

Noreen was predeceased by her loving parents, John and Pauline, her twin sister, Loreen, her brothers Henry, Edwin, and Rudolf, and her sisters Mathilde and Lovina. She now joins her grandson, Eric, her sons-in-law Gary and Jeffrey, her parents-in-law Howard and Helen (Jim), her great-granddaughter Helena, her great-grandson Eric, and her sisters-in-law Mary, Ena, Karen, and Alice, along with her brothers-in-law Henry, Mike, Phil, Eugene, and Elgin, in eternal peace.

Cremation has taken place, and Noreen’s ashes will be interred at the Hudson Bay cemetery at a later date, where she will rest surrounded by the beauty of nature that she so dearly loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity close to Noreen’s heart, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, to honor her memory and continue her legacy of helping others.
