COLIN BRIDGES
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Colin Bridges on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home at the age of 87 years.
Colin will be remembered by the love of his life, Elisabeth, they were married 57 years; his daughters, Tanis (Dylan Sopko) and Jane (Jeremy Winterburn); brother, Jeffrey (Diane); sisters, Hazel (Dale) Baldwin, and Georgina (Phillip) Hamoline as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Colin was predeceased by his parents, Alan and Elizabeth Bridges and siblings, Pat, William, Winston, Garfield and David.
Colin lived an amazing life that was wild, crazy and full of love. He was larger than life and the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
In keeping with dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Colin may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

My thoughts are with Liz, Tanis and Janie. Although I was low key terrified of Colin, I also really respected him. I always thought he disliked me until one day he handed me an awesome sweater - that meant the world to me and I still own it today. - Posted by: Jason Stalker (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2024

My condolences to the Bridges Family. I worked with Colin for about 21 years at Prosperity Knitwear. He started as a Sales Rep and eventually became the General Manager as he well deserved. He was always cheerful and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He was well known to his closest friends and colleagues as "Blackie". From time to time he would greet me in the morning with a song "Oh Mary Ann, Oh Mary Ann...I will never forget that, he had a good voice too! You will be missed by so many. Rest in Peace, Colin. - Posted by: Mary-Anne Cenidoza (Friend) on: Aug 26, 2024

Colin and I worked for many years at Prosperity Knitwear where he was a wonderful colleague and friend. Upon hearing about his death, it brought back all the memories that we shared. I hope that he will go in peace and that please accept my deepest condolences to his family for their deep loss! - Posted by: Henry Tang (Colleague) on: Aug 21, 2024

Oh, how we loved Colin. Our fondest memories of our home on Lyndale involve coming up to the back deck chasing some dog or other and chatting with this handsome man. Liz and I would exchange a warm, knowing look as our husbands would laugh- cut from the same, beautifully strange cloth. I can hear his voice even now and see his eyebrows waggle around. His family adored him as did most who met him. We saw them last in a tastefully appointed apartment where he had slowed down long enough to tell us about his life. We are thinking of you all - looking at your backyard even now and feeling the loss all over again of our beloved neighbours and friends. Sincere condolences to Liz, Tanis and Jane and families. I met and knew Colin through the Clothing Business. He was a good friend to my late husband Doug Kwiecien. They worked together at Prosperity Knitwear. There was never a dull moment when Colin was around. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great storyteller to boot. I know that where he is, he is sharing one of his hilarious stories, leaving everyone in stitches. To Liz and their daughters, I am sorry for your immense loss. I hope your wonderful memories of your husband/father help to bring you comfort at this time and much joy in the future. Godspeed Colin. Say hello to Doug for me. - Posted by: Karmen Patricia Kwiecien (Friend) on: Aug 21, 2024

Sending condolences and love. Mr. Bridges was always a force. With a big laugh and a big smile he sure could see through our BS. I think he wrote the playbook. Impossible to pull one over on him. As Tanis’s bestie and partner in crime he entertained our stories with a wink and a wise word. I will always remember how he made me feel so welcome and I was grateful he found our shenanigans more amusing than annoying. He had a good sense of humour. Sending his family so much love. - Posted by: Liz Crawford (Family friend ) on: Aug 20, 2024
