FREDERICK ALVIN (AL) MACATAVISH
On August 29, 2024, with his family at his side Al left us peacefully.
Al's wife Cathy was his best friend. They shared many years of love and happiness. Al will be greatly missed by their family, Tanis (Paul) and Derek (Brittany).
"Papa Al" will remain always in the memories of grandkids, Jayme, Nolan and little Kenzie, just 2 months old. How he loved to share in the kid’s achievements, his support will go with them always.
Al treasured the family time he shared with his cousin Alma Acheson and her son Bill. Alma looked up to Al as she would a big brother, she will miss him greatly.
Al was the only child of Fred and Alma (nee Shenkarchuk). He grew up in East Kildonan. He achieved an Engineering Degree from the University of Manitoba and spent his entire career with Manitoba Hydro, retiring in 2000 as VP - Transmission and Distribution.
Al Macatavish's dedication to his family came first, but his dedication to his career and his community came a very close second. His countless hours, days and months of volunteering to his favourite sports, curling and golf, includes a massive list of achievements. He is an inductee into both the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame, and the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame.
In lieu of flowers, Al's family will be grateful for any donation to CancerCare Manitoba and to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

We met both, Cathy and Al through the RCGA, and found them to be very giving and good participators with people and therefore were a great asset to this great game of golf. Al was a very well like person. We offer our sympathies to Cathy and the family. With our blessings and heartfelt sympathy. Keith and Marianne. - Posted by: Keith and Marianne Rever (Friend - by Association with RCGA - also as Past President of RCGA in 1989.) on: Sep 05, 2024
