After a long and full life enriched by the love of family and countless friends, Florence died peacefully on September 6, 2024, at Morley House Personal Care Home, Shoal Lake, MB, with family by her side.
Florence was predeceased by her husband Ervin, with whom she raised five children, and by her first-born son Wayne, parents, John and Martha Bach, brothers, Ralph (in infancy) and Donald (aka “Donnie”), and sisters, Anita (in infancy), Phyllis (Jack, also deceased) and Wilma (Jack, also deceased).
Florence’s surviving family will remember her with love and miss her greatly: children, Daryl (Debbie), Shelly (Paul), Penny (Dennis), and Marlis (Jeff); grandchildren, Michael (Bonnie), Monique (Jeff), and Matthew (Desiree); and great-grandchildren, Miles, Dallas, Hudson, Lily, Mimi and Hazel. Sister Agnes (Don, deceased) and sister-in-law Jean (Donnie, deceased) and their families, along with late sister Wilma’s family, will forever cherish her memory and the time they shared with her on the farm.
Raised on her parents’ farm in Cracknell, MB, Florence married Ervin in 1948 and together they relocated to Roblin, MB. They returned to Cracknell in 1954 where they would raise their five children and run the farm together until Ervin’s retirement in 1990. When Ervin passed away in 1992, Florence remained on the farm tending her huge garden, catering to clients of her burgeoning sewing business, and preparing unimaginable feasts every time family made the trek to Cracknell from Winnipeg, Calgary, Toronto, and further afield. Family always came first for Florence, and because she made everyone who came through her door feel so welcome, family visits were frequent.
In 2002, Florence sold the farm and bought a home in Russell, renovating it as soon as she moved in to accommodate her sewing business. The sewing, knitting, cooking, baking, gardening and entertaining for which Florence was famous continued apace in her new home. Her family will always remember the many delicacies in her repertoire, from cabbage rolls and perogies to buns, butter tarts, and chicken soup. Florence herself would never lose her love of good food, simply prepared, a passion that lives on in her children and grandchildren.
Arthritis would eventually force Florence into retirement in 2022, 52 years after she welcomed her first sewing client into her home. Later that year, she moved to Morley House where she never failed to express her appreciation for the exceptional care the team provided her.
Florence’s life will be celebrated at a funeral service on Monday, September 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Inglis, MB.
Those who wish to can make donations to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Fund, 65 Ploeg St., Inglis, MB R0J 0X0. Remembrances and condolences may be posted online at braendlebrucefs.ca or emailed to Braendle-Bruce Funeral Service at bbfs@mts.net

I grew up next door to Florence in Roblin! My brother Ken was a friend of Wayne and my brother was able to attend the funeral in Inglis. My Mom Frances Jakeman spoke often about Florence and her talent in sewing! My deepest condolences to the family! We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Ralph remembers her as a wonderful person. He used to spend some summer vacations at John’s farm. - Posted by: Ralph & Muriel Zelmer (Cousin) on: Sep 12, 2024
