With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Cheryl Martin beloved wife of Robert "Bob" Martin of Calgary, AB, who found peace on July 27, 2024, at the age of 78 years.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she cherished her two boys with an unwavering love that defined her life. Known for her incredible culinary skills, she had a passion for cooking that brought warmth and joy to every gathering. Her enthusiasm for pottery, travel, Flames hockey was matched only by her sharp intellect, boundless curiosity and unyielding drive, qualities that inspired everyone around her. Cheryl will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her generosity, her vibrant spirit, and the immense love she poured into her family and friends.
Cheryl was born in Winnipeg, MB on January 20, 1946 as the youngest and first girl, to her mom, dad and preceding four brothers. More recently, she recounted stories from her youth including her admiration of her brothers, their fierce protection of her and the loving, supportive home she was born into. It was here her love of food, family and fun was fostered.
For those who knew her professionally, Cheryl possessed a keen intellect and drive. She was an important part of helping grow Bob's business as they set out from family, friends and the familiar to start anew in Alberta. Their many hardships had more recently become hearty laughter as we shared the tireless effort, chicanery, luck that allowed them to overcome and grow.
Cheryl's spirit for adventure extended into her personal life as well. She created wonderful homes to share with others in Calgary, Arizona and Falcon Lake to bring laughter, lasting impressions to many. She did Pilates, golfed, made pottery with her grandkids and was constantly seeking out a new recipe to try. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm will be dearly missed.
Besides her loving husband, Cheryl is survived by sons Trevor Norrington and Kyle Norrington along with their spouses Jane Norrington, Chicago, IL and Colby Norrington, New York, NY. She will be dearly missed by her four grandchildren Hugh and Beau Norrington, Chicago, IL as well as Kasia and Chloe Norrington New York, NY.
She's also survived by her stepsons Jason and Jamie Martin along with their families Jocelyn and Hayden Martin and Joelle and Amelia Martin.
Cheryl is survived by her sister-in-law Bev Bennett from Winnipeg, MB as well as nephews Jarrett and Myles Bennett, Winnipeg, MB and their families.
