Brigitte Badiou (nee Poganiatz) was born on August 21, 1961, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
She was predeceased by her mother, Christel Poganiatz, her father, Kurt Poganiatz and her sister, Petra (Abe) Poganiatz. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Léo. Brigitte is survived by her siblings, Peter (Deanna), Paul (Trina), Karen (Gene) and Marianne as well as her stepmother, Hilde (Rick). She will also be fondly remembered by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jocelyne and Henri, her sister-in-law, Lynne (Raymond) and brother-in-law, Pascal (Nicole), along with her nephews and nieces: Brenda (Chris), Mark, Kevin (Ayelet), Alyssa, Francesco, Isabella, Matteo, Colton, Blake, Logan, Kristina, Bradley (Sophie), Alexa-Rae, Anna, Noah, Nico and Emma.
Brigitte spent her youth in Bissett and Stuartburn. She attended Shevchenko High School where she participated actively in sports. As a young adult, she was part owner of a small store. She then went on to work with Canada Revenue for several years. Later, Brigitte started as a driver at Canada Post and then moved on to letter carrying. It is while she was working here, that she met Léo, who she would marry in August of 2002.
Brigitte absolutely loved being outdoors. Fishing was one of her great passions and this led she and Léo to own several cottages at which they spent many happy times either golfing, swimming or better yet, in their boat looking for the next big catch.
Although she faced challenges with her health in the last years, Brigitte was extremely brave and was never one to complain. She preferred to focus on others by participating in family celebrations or by remaining positive and moving forward with the life plans she and Léo had made together. She is an inspiration to all those who knew her and will be greatly missed by us all.
Special thanks to Dr. Jonathan Hong and all the other doctors and nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital Cardiac ICU.
Service and Celebration of Life to be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodière on October 1 at 1:00 p.m.

I met Brigitte not long after Léo, my very good friend, had met her. I instantly saw the sparkle in both of their eyes and knew that they were destined to live a long, fruitful life together. Perhaps their life together should have been longer but we don’t get to make those decisions. Having said that, their life together was certainly a fruitful one. Brigitte and Léo did everything together. They laughed a lot, spent every minute of their time together and also handled the difficult moments with grace and dignity. I know Léo will miss Brigitte tremendously. I also know that Brigitte will be missed by all of those who were lucky enough to have spent moments of their lives with her. May you rest in peace, Brigitte. - Posted by: Luc Roy (Friend) on: Sep 14, 2024

My deepest condolences to Léo and his family. I remember attending your wedding and when you said that you had won the lottery when you met Brigitte. You were so right for each other. I'm very sad that you lost the love of your life, Léo. May God give you strength and courage. You will meet again and your reunion will be very sweet! - Posted by: Jacinthe Dandeneau (Friend) on: Sep 14, 2024
