MARGARET ROSE COURCHENE

(nee FONTAINE)

January 31, 1943-September 13, 2024


With sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Margaret Courchene, of Fort Alexander on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the age of 81 years.

Margaret will be missed by her children Allan (Lori), Dixie Denise (David), Jackie, Darren, Amanda, and Joseph (Tammy); her 22 grandchildren; her 53 great-grandchildren and her three great-great-grandchildren; her sisters Evelyn Laforte and Madeline Courchene, her dear younger brother Harold Fontaine and his wife Brenda, her sister-in-law Therese Swampy; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and students.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents Joe Michel and Elizabeth Fontaine, her husband Allan A. Courchene, brothers Louis Fontaine and Henry Fontaine, her sisters Lillian Fontaine, Lucie Daniels, Dora (Molly) Guimond, Mildred Courchene, and Frances Anaquod. Her granddaughter Lacey Jade Courchene, and her grandson Tyren Jacobs, her son-in-law Terry Guimond.

Wake services will begin Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Christ Anglican Church, Sagkeeng First Nation, MB. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Alexander Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to thank you to all staff at the George M. Guimond Care Centre for the care provide to mom during her stay.
