DONALDA ONALEE ANN JOBIN-BEVANS

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Onalee. She passed away peacefully, Friday, September 20, 2024, at the age of 81, in Orillia, Ontario.

Onalee was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Theodore William “Bill” Jobin-Bevans. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Dean of Orillia, Scott (Francisca) of Chile and Sandy (Kylee) of Toronto, and her grandchildren, Christopher, Christian and Emilia who sweetly call her “Grandma OJ”.

Onalee was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on November 30, 1942. She was the only child of the future Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, The Honourable Francis Laurence “Bud” and Donalda Jobin (Lamont). Though life took her back and forth between Ontario and Manitoba, Onalee often spoke fondly of her Manitoba upbringing, living with her parents in Winnipeg and her grandparents in Brandon. While in Winnipeg, Onalee attended St. Mary’s Academy, eventually attending nursing school at the St. Boniface General Hospital, graduating RN in 1964 - before returning to Flin Flon to start her career and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the absolutely fabulous Mariposa House Hospice www.mariposahousehospice.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Our sincere condolences to Onalee's family. Recalling those hazy days of summer on Lake Athapap, Manitoba. Such a beautiful name and such a beautiful person. Our family spent our entire summers on the lake. Onalee was close to the Plummer sisters on the east side of the bridge so we only met occasionally on the water. Memories of long ago. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Ron Gilmore (Childhood friend) on: Sep 29, 2024

  • Onalee and I grew up on the same street in Flin Flon. She was a year older than me - going to St Boniface Nursing School, while I went to the Winnipeg General. Have not seen her for years, but she was always smiling, friendly and helpful. Someone you never forget. - Posted by: Sharon Trosky ( Kenny) (Childhood friend) on: Sep 25, 2024

  • Dean and family. My deepest sympathy to you and your families on the passing of your mom. I have missed her since they left Winnioeg for St. Joseph Island. We sang in the choir together at Mary Mother of the Church as well as other social activities in the neighbourhood. I’m sure she’s singing in heaven with Sister D! - Posted by: Sue Heim (Old acquaintenance) on: Sep 25, 2024

  • Onalee was a good friend of my sister (godmother To Scott), Julianna. They were in nurses training together, she spent lots of time in PF, Mb. We lost track of her after Bill passed (he was the letter writer). She was a beautiful person and we are so sorry to hear of your loss.
