LORRAINE MARY HOSFIELD
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Lorraine. Peacefully, with the support of her loved ones by her side, Lorraine went to join her parents, Jim and Mary, and her sister Carole in heaven.
Lorraine was an independent free spirit with a passion for life. In her early years, she travelled to Europe, Israel and Jamaica with her close friend Millie. She often spoke fondly of these trips, of the amazing food, the scenery, and good times. Throughout her life, she made regular trips to Regina, Toronto and San Diego to visit with her nephews and nieces, as well as to France and Mexico for their weddings. Lorraine loved attending the Winnipeg Folk festival with her beloved sister Joan. They went over 30 times.
Lorraine wasn't afraid to try anything and once went skydiving.
Lorraine had a special place in her heart for dogs. She often sheltered dogs who had been mistreated; under her loving care they recovered, and she adopted them. Because Lorraine loved to be active and walking, her dogs led active, healthy lives by her side. If she could walk somewhere, she always left the car at home. Even as she dealt with illnesses in her later years, it wouldn't be uncommon to see her out and about miles away from home, enjoying a walk and fresh air.
Lorraine will be missed by her loving family including her sister Joan, brother Bob and sister-in-law Rowena, her nephews David (Lindsey, Oliver, Arlo), Christopher (Jennifer, Cameron, Kaitlyn), Scott (William, Allison) and her nieces Sheryl (Jeff, Aiden) and Rae-Lynn.
She always missed and wished to reconnect with her other nephews Joshua, Colin and Alexander.
Lorraine was brave and courageous, and fought valiantly until the very end. She will always be remembered and loved for her kind heart, adventurous nature and love for her family and friends.
Rest in peace Lorraine.
As per Lorraine's wishes, no memorial service will be held. Should her friends wish, a donation in her honour can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or another charity of choice.
