GRAHAM DOUGLAS HARVEY

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death on August 26, 2024, of our beloved father, Graham Harvey.

Graham was the second son of Douglas and Marjory Harvey. He had an elder brother Percy and a younger sister Debbie both of whom predeceased him. He was born and lived all his life in Winnipeg. Graham was proud of his Canadian identity but also took pride in his English roots. His father was English by birth and met his Canadian mother in England during the Second World War. Through his father, Graham was a descendent of the Harveys of Kingsley, Cheshire and was able to trace his ancestory back 27 generations to Odard, 1st Lord of Dutton, a nephew of William the Conqueror.

He did not discover the detail of his English roots until he visited in 2005 and made contact with his English cousins but he visited England twice more in 2008 and 2017. It was his intention to make a fourth visit but he was prevented from doing so by the Covid pandemic and by his deteriorating health.

He was married for over 50 years to his beloved wife Jeanne, a daughter of the oldest settler family in Western Canada. She is the three time great-granddaughter of Jeane Baptiste Lagimodière and Marie- Anne Gaboury who in 1812 were the first settlers at the Red River Colony near modern Winnipeg. Graham and Jeanne were inseparable and she was the love of his life.

When young, he was a keen ice hockey player. He had a successful career in Sales and Marketing and at one time ran his own successful business.

He fought a long and valiant fight with cancer and he bore his illness bravely He leaves a widow, Jeanne and two sons, Cory and Tyler. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
