Born in Winnipeg, Ms. Nemy was an Arts graduate of the University of Manitoba. After graduation, she spent several years in Europe during which she married Tage Sorensen, a Danish architect. She was hospitalized for some time after surviving a small plane crash in which her husband and a friend were killed. On her recovery, she moved to England where she worked as a substitute teacher.
She began her communications career as a copywriter for the Hudson's Bay Co. in Winnipeg. She went on to J. Walter Thompson in Montreal, joining their Public Relations Department where she specialized in food and fashion accounts. After leaving that firm, she worked as a free-lancer with varied accounts in public relations including EXPO ‘67 in Montreal. She was also the Montreal fashion correspondent for the Winnipeg Tribune as well as writing scripts for CBC International.
After moving to Toronto, she worked in communications for a hospital, as well as assisting a friend who had a P.R. agency with many clients in the arts and entertainment field. Ms. Nemy then went on to work in Public Affairs for the federal government's Ontario Region of Employment and Immigration Department.
A long-time member of the Canadian Women's Press Club in both Montreal and Toronto, Ms. Nemy held various positions in both branches, including president.
After an early retirement from the Canadian government public service, she had her own P.R. firm for several years. She also joined the Royal Ontario Museum as a volunteer and became a docent and gallery interpreter, holding various positions on the docent executive committee, including chair. She also volunteered for the Canadian National Institute of the Blind and adult literacy for many years and was one of the recipients of the 2008 Ontario Volunteer Awards. She was also a vice-president and Canadian trustee of the Dorothy Strelsin Foundation which awards grants to cultural and educational institutions in the United States and Canada.
She was predeceased by her brother Morton and is survived by her sister Enid. Other survivors include her three nephews, Wayne Nemy and Garth Nemy of Winnipeg and Robert Nemy of Jerseyville, Ontario, as well as eight great-nieces and nephews.

I was so saddened to see that Corinne had passed away; I am an old friend of Corinne's from our Bay days together in Winnipeg where we became dear lifelong friends. She was an incredible woman with many interests and talents, I will miss her terribly. Marilyn Settle xo - Posted by: Marilyn Settle (Friend) on: Oct 15, 2024
