Mr. Pantel was a great teacher. I am very thankful I was lucky enough to have a teacher like him. Sometimes it takes a long time to see and appreciate the influence someone has on your life. He was very passionate about teaching history. He taught us that history was not just in the past but that we were making and living a part of history every day. This man taught us about residential schools back in the day when no one else was being taught that. I felt so much more prepared than most of my friends seemed to be when the nation weeped at the 215 and subsequent findings. It wasn't only that but he did teach us about the tribes. Surely there are other students out there who remember listening to the dronning "Peupples Algonquiennes" song. He taught us about fax machines, ironically now essentially a thing of the past. He brought history to life bringing us to England and France and opening our minds to a much greater world. My aunt ended up travelling the world after attending the trip as a chaperone next him. I was never one to go back to my old schools or see my old teachers. I am however very glad I took some time to stop in to see him a few years ago right before the building at Archibald and Goulet was torn down. I'm sorry I was not able to attend the service. My sincere condolences to his family and close friends on your great loss. Tracy Granger - Posted by: Tracy Granger (Former Student) on: Nov 25, 2024
