Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDARLENE GERTRUDE DOWLING
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Darlene Gertrude Dowling, a kind and gentle soul, on November 30, 2024, at the age of 72.
Darlene was a quiet and soft-spoken woman, deeply loved by all who knew her. In her younger years, she enjoyed photography, sailing, was an avid world traveller, embracing new cultures and experiences with curiosity and enthusiasm. She later built a fulfilling career In Winnipeg, and enjoyed fine dining, wine, and espresso.
Darlene loved her family, delighting in gatherings, and the joy of spoiling her nieces and nephews. She extended this love to her three great-nephews, Charlie, Alex and Eddie, who held a special place in her heart.
She leaves behind her lifelong friend and partner, Hersh Lavitt, as well as her older siblings, brothers, Doug (Doxie), Dwight (Stephie), and sister Donna. She will be dearly missed by her numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family. Darlene was predeceased by her father Arthur Dowling and mother Gertrude Dowling.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and Sister Mary at Holy Family Home for making Darlene's last three years as comfortable and wonderful as possible.
A private family service will be held to honour Darlene's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Holy Family Home, in her memory.
Darlene's gentle presence and loving spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Darlene. I met her and Hersh several times with my wife, Mrs. Leslie Pfiefer. Darlene was a kind, happy person. Who brought much joy to all who were around her. My wife, Leslie loved Darlene very much. I am sure that they are in Paradise sharing a glass of wine. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: George (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2024

My dearest friend from Munroe Junior High where we first met. I echo the words describing Darlene in this obituary and so much more. There was no truer friend and I was honoured to have her as my friend and one of my bridesmaids. Not only was she a big part of my life but she was a big part of my daughter Susan’s life as well as my family. We had so much fun together, playing cards all night at her house, traveling across western Canada, to Minneapolis, Mn, Cancun, Mexico, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, trips to the lakes, and going out for dinner and drinks with the group of friends from school, Darlene Peddlar, Myra Cherewyk, and Monica Delaney. We also have wonderful memories of the times we shared with her and Hirsch. Throughout the years we lost contact with our busy lives, our careers and our move to Phoenix, AZ. It is with sadness that I hold in my heart that I was unable to reconnect with Darlene or Hirsch. However, I am grateful to have so many wonderful memories of her that will be cherished forever. - Posted by: Kathy Desautels (nee Trossel) (High School Friend) on: Dec 12, 2024

I first saw Darlene at Red River College in 1972. She was hard to miss as such a strikingly beautiful young woman. And then our paths crossed when we both worked in the accounting department at Burns Meats. She was well respected by all and such a free spirited woman. My deepest sympathies to her loved ones. - Posted by: Paul Downie (Colleague ) on: Dec 07, 2024
