HELEN PLETZ
In honour of a life lived with joy, strength, and a loving faith in Christ, the family of Helen Pletz regretfully announces her peaceful passing on December 5, 2024, at the age of 91.
Mum succumbed to her longstanding health issues under the watchful care of staff at River Park Gardens Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. She was supported by family, friends, and Healthcare staff whom she treated with equal affection, and who gave her countless reasons to keep smiling every day.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Donna Passey; son Dave Pletz (Julie); grandchildren, Ben Passey (Melanie Klassen), Amy Pletz, Jennifer Pletz (Noah); and great-granddaughter Kayleigh Fast. She also leaves her siblings, Margaret Rentz (Bob), Ron Schalla; brother-in-law Bruno Pletz (Mary); sisters-in law, Ingrid Zaste and Ruth Pletz. She leaves over 50 nieces, nephews and their families in Canada and Germany.
Helen was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Wally, her son-in-law Darrell, as well as her parents, Hermann and Karoline Schalla. Mum will join them as well as 12 siblings, numerous in-laws, and many dear friends in her heavenly home.
Please join us in a celebration of Helen's life at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street, Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11. The service will be followed by a light lunch.

Donations may be sent by e transfer to the church at officeadmin@faithlc.ca indicating it is for the Spiritual Care at River Park Gardens or you can drop off a cheque at the church made out to Faith Gardens Inc. and indicating in the memo line that it is for Spiritual Care. Donna, Dave and Ben, We want to offer our condolences. We have such great memories of your mum, whether it was her homemade dill pickles, or ( our my mothers favourite, her chocolate zucchini bread)… Then there is the memory of her with her first smart- cell phone! She loved texting and sending photos! Donna, David and families….I have so many fond memories of you mom since first meeting her at Faith Lutheran Church way back on St. David and Berrydale when she was the church secretary. Your mom was always smiling and welcoming …even in phone chats, I could hear her smile. I pray you peace and comfort in our Lord Jesus Christ as you entrust your mom to God’s eternal care.
