Doug Pliszka passed away on the morning of December 5, 2024 with his wife of 26 years, Jackie, by his side at the Brandon Regional Health Centre in the Palliative Care Unit.
Doug is survived by his wife, Jackie Pliszka (née Johnston), and children, Harold Pliszka (partner Janet and kids Hailey and Reuben), Cindy Pliszka-Milligan (partner David Milligan), Nolan Imlach (partner Stephanie Ryckman and kids Madisyn and Alex), Erin Imlach (partner Adam McLoughlin and kids Juniper and Wynnie).
Also grieving are Doug’s sister Donna Bottcher (partner Fred), ex-wife and longtime friend Marlene Pliszka (née Tully), sisters-in-law, Cindy Charlton (partner Gary) and Sher MacDonald (partner Glenn), their families, and Doug’s many close friends, nieces, nephews and extended family members across Manitoba, Canada and USA.
Doug was predeceased by his sister, Sonya McDonald (née, Pliszka); his brother, Wayne Pliszka (died in infancy); his mother, Rose Pliszka (née, Popko), and father, Michael Pliszka.
Causes Doug supported include; Delta Waterfowl, Ducks Unlimited, Salvation Army, and variety of Cancer prevention, research and care societies.
A Celebration of Life for Doug will be held in the spring or early summer of 2025. A notification will be publicized closer to the date.
