JOHN WILBERT MARTIN

July 3, 1944 - December 16, 2024


John Wilbert Martin, Born Little Heart's Ease, Newfoundland. With his family by his side, we announce the passing of John, husband, father, poppy. Lovingly remembered by wife Linda (nee Drover); son Michael (Tonia); granddaughter Amber of Headingley MB; daughter Amy; granddaughter Lauren of Winnipeg; brothers, Harold Martin (Barbara) of Ottawa ON, Todd Martin (Nancy) of Port Hope, ON; sisters, Selina Kelly (Bill) of Garlands Crossing, NS, Nita Croft of St. John's NL; brother-in-law Bill Drover (Diane) of Oakbank MB; brother-in-law Kevin Drover (Olesya) of St. John's, NL; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to nephew Chris Kelly (Kori) of Dugald, MB for all their comfort and support.

John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed time at his cabin and in his boat out on the lake. Retired from a successful business career in sales he continued to work right until his final days. However his greatest accomplishment and love was his family.

Thank you to the staff of the Medical, Surgical and Rehab Units of The Portage District General Hospital in Portage La Prairie MB and a special thank you to Dr Sean Fainman for his kindness, care and compassion.

  • We are so saddened to learn of John's passing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I worked with John in the 80's and 90's at Metropol Security, and he contributed to a great work environment. We have great memories of New Years Eve at the house in Headingley.
