TRESSIE GEORGINA JOHNSTON

August 4, 1945 - December 12, 2024

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Tressie Johnston on December 12, 2024, aged 79 with family by her side.

Tressie was predeceased by her husband Allan in 2003, her parents, William and Lorna, her siblings, Zona, Alex, Harold and Mary as well as her grandson Tyler Johnston. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-in-law Colleen and Dustin Riddoch, her son and daughter-in-law Herbert and Janice Johnston as well as her grandchildren, Breena Ross (Tyler), Shayla Marynewich, Tanner Dola (Jamie), Gavyn Riddoch, Amanda Koop (Cassidy) and Danny and Stephen Banman. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, Owen, Riley and Hailey (Breena and Tyler’s), Jeffrey and Emma (Amanda’s) and Isabelle (Tyler’s); as well as her beloved dog Macey.

Mom worked over 20 plus years at Perkins restaurant after Dad became ill. She fought a battle against breast cancer in 2005 during this time and beat it for 19 years. When she had a bout of vertigo, she finally retired.

She was a loving and devoted wife to Allan and an awesome mother as well as grandmother and great-grandmother who would do anything for her family. Gardening and having a nice yard were one of her passions. Always puttering around. We Love You and miss you.

A special thank you to all the staff on the Palliative Ward at St. Boniface for their unbelievable care and compassion as well as the home palliative care team we had during my (Colleen) stay while caring for her in home and the numerous trips to CancerCare for radiation and hydration.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tressie’s name may be made to the Cancer Society.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Red River Community Club located at 293 Murray Ave., January 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with a gathering after.
