DAVID JOB WINTERBURN

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Job Winterburn on January 1, 2025.

Dave was born on April 30, 1929, second child of Job and Alma Winterburn. He grew up and attended school in downtown Winnipeg.

In 1956, he met the love of his life, Barbara, at the YMCA where she worked. They were married in 1957. They purchased a home and settled in Transcona in 1959. Dad lived in the home they shared until his death.

Dave began work at the CPR on June 1, 1951, as a yardman then a conductor. He got his Locomotive Engineer Certificate of Qualification on September 17, 1979, and retired on March 1, 1993, after 42 years of service.

Left to cherish his memory are daughters: Tammy (Carl), Dallis, Shelley (Doug) and son Glenn (Denise). He is survived by his grandchildren: Chantel (Macy), Christy, Chad (Brianna), Jordan (Dayna), Braedan, Robert, Angela (Andrew), Tyler (Crystal) and Amy; also, great-grandchildren: Neve, Quinn, Max, Aria, Layke, Primrose, Poppy, Billy, and Ellie-Rae. Dave is survived by his dear sister, Doris, of Toronto and many nieces and nephews.

Dave's life was forever changed when he lost his beloved wife Barbara to cancer in 2010 after 53 years of marriage. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Victor and sister Marion.

We would like to express our thanks to home care, St. Boniface Hospital Emergency and the doctors, nurses and therapists at Victoria Hospital who gave our dad such wonderful care.

The funeral service will be held at Transcona Memorial United Church, located at 209 Yale Avenue West, on January 17 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army; a charity supported by Dad.
