PETER TKACH

July 12, 1938 - December 27, 2024

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Paul Tkach at the age of 86, on Friday December 27, 2024.
Dad is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of 61 years; his children, Keri, Darcy (Melissa); grandchildren, Joshua (Ryan), Jamie (Anna), Ireland, Evelyn, McKenna and McKenzie; his siblings, Florence, Vern (Faye); and many nephews and nieces.
Dad is predeceased by his mother Elizabeth; his father Peter; his brother Walter and sister Mary; brothers-in-law, Harry and Paul; and his nephews, Anthony and Trevor.
Peter was born July 12, 1938 in Weiden, Manitoba. He met the love of his life in Somerset, Manitoba while working on the railroad tracks. Dad and Mom married on July 22, 1963 at St. Ignatius Church. Peter worked at CN Rail as a Track Supervisor of Maintenance for 39 years. He was a very dedicated and valued employee. Peter loved playing and watching golf, hockey, baseball, football, and curling. He loved spending summers with his family at MacKenzie's log cabin at Clear Lake.
Peter suffered a few strokes in his early 70s that left him nonverbal. We so enjoyed that he could still sing "Happy Birthday". Dad remained outgoing and positive throughout his life. He was so strong and had such a desire to carry on. Dad was the best, so tall and handsome and such a gentleman. He was able to stay in his home, which was his pride and joy, until July of last year. He then joined Marilyn in Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Dad and Mom were together again! We considered the staff there as part of our family. The kindness, care and dignity that was extended to Dad was extraordinary. We are forever grateful to them
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at E.J. Coutu Funeral Home at 680 Archibald Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba – 247 Provencher Blvd., Unit B, Winnipeg, MB R2H 0G6.

We will miss you so much Dad,
we will Always Love You!!

  • Peter had been our neighbour for over 30 years. He and Marilyn became friends to my wife Tia and I over time. Peter and I would talk about the Jets or Bombers over a get together in the summer. We also enjoyed a few garage sales from time to time. Peter was always ready to pitch in and help with any home problem you had, he will be missed. - Posted by: Mark Beakley (neighbour, friend) on: Jan 15, 2025
