Ms. Masters was a wonderful teacher who loved her students and took a personal interest in them. She made every student feel special and made school fun for us. She is a one of a kind teacher that I feel blessed to have had in my life - as I am sure many others do too. She was my grade-5 and grade-6 teacher at Florence Nightingale School. God bless you, Ms. Masters - may you be in heaven with out Lord for all eternity! - Posted by: Renee (student-teacher) on: Jan 27, 2025

I remember going to Winnipeg Beach. I met her family. That pinto was fun. Camping with her and loved it. All the girls did. She was a wonderful person. - Posted by: Brenda flett (Teacher) on: Jan 14, 2025

Harold, I'm sorry to learn that Sandra has recently passed away and that Sharon had predeceased her. I still remember the baseball games we played in your backyard as kids. I also remember the shock when your father died. As the years passed we each followed our own paths even though we all ended up at St. John's High school. There were so many kids and classrooms back in those days that I never shared a single class with Sandra. About the only thing I knew about her then was that she played on the varsity basketball team. Now I see that she went onto a teaching career of her own and obviously had a very lifelong positive impact on her students. My sincere condolences, Harold. Sandy was such an admired teacher for so many years at Florence Nightingale. I was lucky to have had her as a teacher for 3 years, and a friend for many years later. I was a junior bridesmaid in her wedding party and will never forget how special that made me feel at 13! We lost touch in the 90’s, but I was lucky enough to chat with her once during a professional development day, and let her know that she was the one who inspired me (as well) to become a teacher and coach. Barely a day went by over 32 years while teaching grade 6 that I didn’t reflect upon her encouraging words and caring actions to help my kids succeed-especially while coaching. I’m sorry she had to battle this terrible disease but I am glad she is now at peace. She was so loved🙏 - Posted by: Donna Kurnell (Coffell) (Student/friend) on: Jan 12, 2025

Miss Masters was a very kind hearted person. She helped me transition into Florence Nightingale School when we moved to the area. Sorry that she’s gone, but glad she’s not suffering from dementia anymore. RIP Miss Masters - Posted by: Karen (Stevenson) (Student) on: Jan 11, 2025

I met Ms. Masters at my elementary school, Florence Nightingale School, She was my favourite teacher of all time. She was truly devoted to her children (students) and did all she could to bring out our best. A remarkable lady, person and exceptional teacher. She educated with compassion, fairness and fun. How lucky we were to be educated by and to have known her. I know she was a great influence to many of us, not just myself. To be so fondly remembered by so many is truly a life well lived. The best there is, best there was and the best that ever will be. May she rest in peace. 🙏🏻 - Posted by: Nicole Banera (Student) on: Jan 11, 2025

Thank you for taking us to Grand Beach in grade 6 in your blue pinto. You let me drive that car too! Thank you for coming with me to Wpg Beach at my parents cottage we had so much fun at end of grade 6. I got my periods with you that first weekend, sorry we couldn’t go swimming and how you knew why! So many memories of my beloved teacher. I nominated you for inspirational teacher and I won tickets to see an Abba Reboot. Rest in Peace my favorite Teacher of all time at our Florence Nightingale, you really rocked that school. I met your mom and Sharon and Harold he introduced me to some good books like the Betsy! Miss Masters, even though you said to call you Sandy, I still couldn’t, because I loved and respected you so much. You were our true hero of the North End.
