KENNETH BLAINE HILLMAN

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Kenneth Blaine Hillman during the early morning hours of December 24, 2024, in Bucerias, Mexico, where he has wintered for the past 11 years enjoying the beautiful weather and golf. Ken was 75 years old.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Dell Hillman and his in-laws, Peter and Mary Boris. Ken is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverlee (nee Boris), his daughter Dayna (Charlie Spiring), his son Shaun (Courtney Chernos), his brother Garth (Joyce), as well as nephews, nieces and cousins. Ken was extremely proud of his children and their achievements.

Ken grew up and attended school in Brandon. He and Bev were high school sweethearts who married in 1970.

Ken earned his accounting degree and then became Director of Finance at Brandon General Hospital. He moved on to working at Plains Western Gas and Centra Gas. He and his family moved to Winnipeg in 1988 and shortly afterwards Ken became an entrepreneur and established West Can Gas and West Can Telecommunications, the latter of which is still operating.

Beyond his professional life, Ken was passionate about golf and the camaraderie and challenges the sport provided. Many lasting friendships and fond memories were made on the course including seven holes-in-one! Ken was known for his generous spirit and quick wit both on and off the course.

Ken and his family loved travelling and very much enjoyed the time they spent together. Once his children were on their own, he and Bev travelled extensively. His many experiences enriched his life and gave him a wealth of stories to share with friends. His favourite place of all however, from the time he was a child, was spending his summers at the family cottage at Clear Lake.

Ken has been cremated. A memorial will be conducted at a later date.

Ken's memory will live on through the love of his family, his enduring friendships and the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Rest in peace Ken, your spirit will remain with us and be forever cherished.

In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to United Way Winnipeg.
