TENA BERGWALL

Tena Bergwall passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, one day after her eighty-eighth birthday. Tena was born in Wawanesa, Manitoba. She lived much of her life in Manitoba. She often said the best years of her life was raising her sons in Virden.

Tena received her Teacher’s Certificate from Tuxedo Normal School, and taught Primary School in Kelwood, Manitoba. She had a passion for literacy. Tena worked and volunteered as teacher’s aid for adult literacy classes at Brandon Friendship Centre and got her granddaughters into playing scrabble at young ages.

Tena moved to Airdrie, Alberta in her later years to be closer to family.

Tena is survived by her sister, Ruth Warren; her sons, Deryl (Nuala) Bergwall, and Duane (Maidelen) Bergwall, her granddaughters, Shannon Bergwall, Jamie Bergwall, Cheyla Bergwall, and Melanie Bergwall.

Tena was predeceased by her parents, Albert Higgs, and Edith Hutton; her sister, Gwen Scharff; her brother, Bruce Higgs, and her son Ken Bergwall.
