ISABELLE KLASSEN

Isabelle (Brown) Klassen born October 31, 1932, in Killarney Manitoba to Howard and Marguerite Brown, Isabelle was the 3rd child of 4 Russel, Barbara, Isabelle and Jean. Isabelle grew up on the family farm along Pelican Lake and attended Glendenning school. Once Mom finished school, she moved to Winnipeg to further her education as a Licensed Practical Nurse and began her nursing career in Winnipeg.

Isabelle married Henry Klassen in 1954, and they began their life in Winnipeg. Soon buying a small acreage where they began to accumulate some cows and other farm animals. Their first child Wayne Alan was born in 1957, with their son Terry Lance arriving in 1964 and finishing off their family in 1970 with daughter, Pamela Dawn.

In pursuit of their dream of farming in 1964 they headed west to Ninette where they had purchased a section of land in the beautiful rolling hills along the valley. Isabelle began working at the TB sanatorium and continued working there until it closed in the early 1970's. She then took additional training and worked at the Pelican Lake Training Centre. Isabelle enjoyed her work at the Training Centre but missed bedside nursing and therefore moved to Wawanesa Hospital, where she worked until her retirement.

After retirement she did not sit idle for long before she began working at Boissevain Westview lodge, Valley View PCH, and the Assiniboine Centre. In 2012 at the age of 80 years old Isabelle decided to not renew her nursing license. Right to the end she often wished she had been able to continue but worried she could not keep up with the technology. Isabelle loved all animals and truly loved the farm life. She was never one to turn away from hard work or challenges, showing this by running the dairy farm and working full time and later managing the beef cows while working. All while raising a family.

In 1996 Isabelle moved a house into Terry's yard west of Brandon and enjoyed helping on the farm baling, feeding horses and caring for her ponies. Isabelle moved to Brandon to her apartment in 2012 and enjoyed her apartment, where she was on the coop board. Isabelle was active with Club 77 and was President of the club for a number of years. She took pride in her efforts to make the club inclusive and welcoming to all. With the loss of Isabelle's mobility she moved to Fairview, where she enjoyed her time till her peaceful passing.

Isabelle was predeceased by her parents; brother, Russel; sister, Barbara and grandson Julian. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Wayne (Ruth), Terry (Kyle); daughter, Pam (David); grandchildren; Amber (Kris) and Amber's mom, Runa, Hunter, Jackson, Ava and their mom, Cindy, Lars and Kara, Holly, Madison; Great grandchildren, Lucas, Lyrik, Lincoln, Charlie and Gus.

A celebration of life was held on December 20, 2024, at Brockie Donovan Chapel, with the interment at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The reception was held at The Backyard on Aberdeen.
