KLAUS FISCHER
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our husband and father, Klaus Fischer on March 1, 2025. He is known to us and many as a kind and loving soul. Klaus’s birth place is Hamburg, Germany. He and his wife, Sylvia were drawn back there many times to visit friends and classmates, which resulted in some of the best storytelling ever. Some of the stories he told were of the many hitchhiking trips throughout Europe with his best friend Jan while both were 15 years old and one in particular while driving his old 1938 DKW car.
Klaus’s love for a variety of European cars led to many a long distance road trip where they ventured throughout Canada, the USA and Europe. Yet it was Winnipeg that he would return to and where he developed several careers over his 60 years having lived there.
He began driving taxis and even owned his own Fischer Taxi Co. Soon he realized the love for selling commercial real estate was what he excelled at. Along with his wife, Sylvia they spent 28 years establishing the business while winning the respect of many colleagues and clients.
There was no greater joy than a walk through the Assiniboine Park English Garden, or delving into Swedish authors’ mystery books. Yet personally, his proudest achievement was initiating and helping establish Hillside Beach Trailer Park Cooperative, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024.
Klaus is survived by his wife, Sylvia; daughters, Nicolette, grandson Jake, Michelle, grandson Daniel in addition to Sylvia’s extended family.
We wish to thank the kind and most attentive staff for their excellent care at Deer Lodge 2W over the past several weeks.
A celebration of Klaus’s life will take place at a later date.

Klaus was an exceptional personality. Warm and generous, I just always left meeting up with Klaus feeling good. He lifted the moment and made discussing Commercial Real Estate enjoyable. I never bought or sold a building with Klaus, it just never happened but of all the realtors I have met and I met quite a few, Klaus is by far the nicest man. A gentleman I will always remember fondly. Sorry to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Roger Groening (Client) on: Jun 13, 2025

Michelle & Family, Our Condolences go out to you and your family. It was a pleasure to shake his hand on the 50th anniversary of the Hillside Beach Cooperative. What better place to have met him especially on the bench that is dedicated to the founder of the park. Hope to see you this summer and we will share a toast to Klaus. Gonna try this again. Sylvia you know that we have nothing but appreciation for everything you and Klaus have done for us. The two of you made the perfect situation in marriage and work. That is often a tough one to manage. We are grateful we had the opportunity to enjoy our visit just before Christmas and look forward to our friendship into the future. - Posted by: Sherri Doherty (Friend) on: Mar 16, 2025

Dear Sylvia and Family, so very sorry for your loss. Klaus was a kind, gentle man I had a lot of respect for both of you in his successful commercial real estate career. Too bad we did not have more visits at our summer cottage. Thinking of you and sending love. Take care. - Posted by: Lynda Bowman (Friend) on: Mar 08, 2025

I met Klaus and Sylvia 25 years ago. They lived in joy not just through careers or travelling back to Germany, but with each person they met. The storytelling from Klaus made you understand his young man days. But it was clearly Sylvia he treasured through the many visits we shared together. I shall miss the crisp blue shirts, the sly smile and the sharing of some music we enjoyed. Sylvia, I with others share in your sadness. Keep the memories close to your heart. ❤️ - Posted by: Laurie Gyde (Friend) on: Mar 08, 2025
