MOIZUDDIN AHMED ASHRAFF

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Moizuddin Ahmed Ashraff on February 7, 2025, at Grace Hospital, at the age of 93.

Born in Hyderabad, India, Moizuddin came to Canada in 1953 to pursue his studies in entomology at McGill University before settling in Winnipeg. He was a devoted husband to Anne Ella Ashraff, a beloved father to Javid (Joanne), Miriam, and Omar (Karen), and a cherished grandfather to Samuel, Alyssa, and Ayrton.

Predeceased by his parents, two sisters, and one brother, Moizuddin built a life marked by dedication to both his profession and community. As a respected entomologist, he served as Manager of Western Canada for Green Cross and Ciba-Geigy, making significant contributions to his field. Beyond his career, he was deeply engaged in community service and valued time spent with family and friends. Known for his warmth and ability to connect with people, he had a passion for meeting new friends, hunting, and playing tennis. In their retirement, he and Anne enjoyed winters in Palm Springs, where they spent time with friends on the tennis courts.

A private family funeral was held on February 14, 2025, at the Waverley Grand Mosque, followed by burial at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Moizuddin's memory.
