Born November 23, 1926, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in White Rock, BC at age 98.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Betty Scardina, his children, Karin Piett, Derrick Piett (Glenda), Celine Piett (daughter-in-law), his grandson Jarod Piett (Ashley), his great-grandson Jackson Piett who was the ‘apple of his eye’ and his niece Shannon Piett. Fred will also be lovingly missed by his brothers, Joe Scardina and Frank Scardina (Rosemary). He will be remembered by many other family members and good friends. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Rosaline and Giuseppe, and his siblings, Tomasina Isabel Siegmund, Samuel Salvador Scardina and Harry Enrico Scardina.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with location and time to follow.
Heartfelt thanks to the caring team members on the 5th floor unit at Peace Arch Hospital.

I wish to extend my own and spouse Judy’s condolences to Derrick and his mom Betty and family on Fred’s recent passing. Derick one Christmas invited Judy and I to Fred and Betty’s home to celebrate the festivity of the season and it was a wonderful feast of food with friends and both Betty and Fred made us both feel a part of their “extended family“ from our first steps into their humble abode. And Judy and I over the several decades since then never forgot that hand of generosity they extended to us. Should you be reading this tribute to Fred my old friend Derrick Piett?
