JANE DORIS QUARK

After a life well lived, Jane (Doris) Quark (nee Swarbrick), peacefully departed this world on March 12, 2025. Jane, a beautiful lady, who filled her life with love, travel and sharing Jesus, has left us for her next adventure.

Jane was born in Moose Jaw, SK on December 13, 1949, to Harry and Doris Swarbrick, their youngest of seven. After graduating cosmetology school she married her sweetheart, Dave Quark on November 11, 1967. Together they moved to Winnipeg, raised their three children and worked side by side in their shoe stores. Jane was a dedicated cheerleader, witnessing as much as possible all the endeavours of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She learned Spanish at 40, passing four levels of university courses to better communicate on her dozens of mission trips. Jane travelled to 117 countries and literally gave away the shoes off her feet more than once.

Jane will be dearly missed by her husband Dave, children, Doug (Meredith), Deana (Jean), Tom (Marcie), grandchildren, Nina (Tanner), Nelson (Ashton), Joshua, Brooklynn, Austin, Elias and Levi, great-grandchildren, Finley and Hazel, and surviving siblings, Fran, George (Joanne), Linda (Renus) as well as many nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Doris, siblings, Dorothy (Harvey), Bill (Fern), Kay (Terry), and brother-in-law Dave.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the compassionate nurses who tended to Jane through HomeCare and Palliative Care.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Grant Memorial Church at 877 Wilkes Ave. on Sunday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, Jane asked for donations to Clear & Simple Media via Grant Memorial, so as to issue charitable receipts. They publish biblical materials in 42 languages to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye for now, but we know she is with Jesus. She always loved meeting new people and going to new places. Heaven will be perfect for her.

  • I'm very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Tom Tyrrell (friend) on: Mar 22, 2025

  • Dear Dave, Thank you to whoever found, me on email. This is such a shock because Jane was ten years younger than me. Our wonderful time together with our toddler children was on Nottingham (if I remember correctly). The children would play in the back yard and Jane and I would visit and resolve the worlds problems. Jane was such a great listener, funny, wonderful sense of humour and wise beyond her years. Her patience was one of the many things I admired about her. She set such a great example of warmth and kindness. My prayers will be for her and with you and the family. Again, thank you. This message of her glorious never ending new life of love is such a blessing to receive. Love, prayers and warmest memories, Elaine - Posted by: Elaine Baxter/DeWandel/Mayer (old neighbor) on: Mar 22, 2025

  • Jane and Dave were our wonderful neighbours right next door for 25 years and we felt so lucky and blessed to have them become good friends as well. Jane was an exceptionally observant person who we trusted to keep a great eye on our house when we were away! The four of us spent many hours together sharing meals, games, and pool times, and Jane was always up for fun activities in the city. On one occasion at their home, Jane introduced us to a new video game of tennis and we all laughed hysterically until our sides hurt. Both Jane and Dave were eager to learn new things and also taught us a lot in many ways. They often shared their worldly experiences with us and we loved hearing about their adventures. Jane’s smile, laugh, positive attitude and deep faith were a winning combination. Jane was such a joy to spend time with. We will miss her terribly. Our deepest sympathies to Dave and all the family. - Posted by: Bettina and George Nyman (Neighbours and friends) on: Mar 17, 2025
