Anne Mary Lambert (Colson), loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Vista Park Lodge in Winnipeg on February 19, 2025, at the age of 88.
Anne was born in Vancouver, BC on July 2, 1936, to Eustace (Ted) and Marjorie Colson, followed by little sister Joan four years later. She had fond memories of growing up surrounded by mountains and water and shared stories of family outings along the
seawall in Stanley Park, summer holidays at her grandparent’s cottage at Sechelt, and the outdoor fun and camaraderie of Girl Guide camps.
After high school, Anne enrolled in the nurse’s training program at St. Paul’s Hospital. She loved life in the dorm and all the antics that came with it! And her compassionate nature was put to good use on the wards, where Anne often volunteered to care for patients deemed untouchable by others.
Anne graduated as a Registered Nurse and promptly moved to Winnipeg to join her family who had recently relocated there. She took her public health training at the University of Manitoba and then accepted a position as Public Health Nurse in Arborg, MB. She embraced rural life, even learning to drive stick down gravel roads to provide post-natal home visits, which she carried out with her trademark gentle kindness.
Here she met Bill Lambert, the local Ag Rep, and the two were married on October 28, 1961. They started a family in 1962 and went on to have five children, Rob, George, Marcie, Mary (who died in infancy), and Cathy. The family lived in Beausejour from 1964 to 1972 at which time they moved to Shoal Lake.
Anne was a loving and attentive stay-at-home mom for the first couple of years in Shoal Lake and once all the kids were in school full time, she went to work at the medical clinic, later resuming her nursing career at the hospital and Morley House Personal Care Home.
Anne had a creative soul and enjoyed sewing and a variety of crafts, sharing her knowledge as a 4-H leader. She was a great cook and was always keen to try something new! Anne loved all kinds of music and whether she was sewing or cooking, there would be music on in the background
She followed and supported her busy kids in all their pursuits... hockey, figure skating, baseball, 4-H, and extracurricular school activities. And she did the same for her grandchildren, so proud of each and every one of them.
In their retirement years, Anne and Bill moved to Hamiota to be closer to family and enjoyed being part of the community.
In 2013, the couple moved to The Boulton, assisted living, in Winnipeg to be closer to family and a wider range of health care. They formed new friendships and happily settled in. Following Bill’s death in 2014, Anne remained at The Boulton for five more
years. In 2019, in the early stages of dementia, Anne made the brave decision to move to Vista Park Lodge, personal care. Her warm smile and gentle nature made Anne popular with staff and residents alike.
Anne will be remembered by those who loved her for her strong Christian faith which she shared with others through her kind and gentle way. She was open minded, accepting and welcoming. She made the world a better place and she will be so missed.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Marjorie, husband Bill, daughter Mary, and granddaughter Cathy-Jo Harrison.
She is survived by children, Rob (Darla), George (Lisa), Marcie Harrison (Larry Shannon), and Cathy Wierckx (Rudi), and former son-in-law Cal Harrison. Nine grandchildren: Erin, Jodi, Tara; Troy and Amy; Sarah and Jenny; and Ryan and Keith and eight great-grandchildren. Anne is also survived by her sister Joan Godfray (Ron) and family.

My condolences to Marcie and the rest of the familiy. I sometimes wondered about Marcie ... I remember her from elementary school in Beausejour. I don't know if she'd even remember me, but I think of her now and then. I'll hold you all in prayer as you grieve your mother. May the Lord grant her eternal rest! - Posted by: Christine Dudych (classmate of Marcie's) on: Mar 22, 2025
