LISA MARY SHERIDAN

The world lost Lisa Mary Sheridan (née Campbell) in the early hours of Friday, February 21, 2025, exactly 15 years to the day after her mother Nora Elizabeth "Betty" Campbell. Lisa had battled for over seven years with early-onset dementia, spending her last two years under the great care of Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg. She was only 65.

Lisa was born to parents "Bill" and "Betty" Campbell on March 9, 1959, and grew up on a farm near Argyle, Manitoba. She was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Brant-Argyle School and moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba (U of M). In 1981, she married Richard Vincent Sheridan and settled down to raise a family. She later returned to the U of M to pursue a Bachelor of Education and worked for many years as a teacher in Winnipeg, retiring from St. John's High School, where she will be remembered for several murals in and outside the school. In addition to her love of popcorn and ice cream, she loved laughing, art, music, gardening, travelling, cooking, sailing Lake Winnipeg, spending time with friends and family, and engaging in countless selfless acts of kindness and compassion in both her personal and professional lives. She treated every individual she met with unparalleled dignity and respect. She saw potential in everyone.

Those who loved Lisa most will always wish her life hadn't been cut so short. She had a positive impact on our lives and the lives of many others. She will live on in our countless stories, photographs, experiences, and fond memories.

She was predeceased by her father Bill (2002), her mother Betty (2010), and her eldest brother Bill Jr. (1992). She is survived by her loving husband Richard, sons, Paul and Kevin, daughter-in-law Samantha, stepchildren, Lara, Joanne, and Michael, granddaughters, Emma, Amy, and Molly, and step-grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Annelise, Heather, and Adrian.

Close family will hold a private Celebration of Life followed, in time, by an interment at Argyle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we encourage random acts of kindness in Lisa's name.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Was just trying to track some friends from Tache Hall at University of Manitoba and came across this. Lisa was such a vibrant woman and a real gem to be around. She was gracious to accompany me to our year end “rat alley” windup. In spite of its title it was a semi-formal event with many personalities. Lisa had so many people who wanted to be around her because of her small town charm and down to earth personality. Her passing leaves a big hole. Condolences to her family - Posted by: Gordon Grant (Friend from university) on: May 29, 2025

  • My sincere condolences to Lisa's family, especially Paul and Kevin whom I had the privilege to teach. Probably just you Paul, at HL. Softley School. I forget somewhat if Kevin was also my student. I am so sorry that her latter years were not easy for her and for all of you. Know that my heart goes out to you . And that I lift her up as she now rests in peace. Healthy and whole. And may you all know that in some precious way, she lives on in your hearts just because seen or unseen, love is a forever thing. She now continues to live through you. Do take care of each other, as no doubt a mom would want. Your mom was awesome and left her mark in this world. No doubt you will continue to make her proud. - Posted by: Rachelle Guay (Former teacher to her boys .) on: Mar 24, 2025

  • So sorry to hear about the passing of your dear Lisa. My condolences to you her family. I had the great pleasure and honor of working alongside Lisa at St. John's High School. May you rest easy Ms. Lisa Sheridan. Linda Dmyterko (teacher collegue) - Posted by: linda (collegue) on: Mar 22, 2025

  • I was so sorry to hear of Lisa’s passing. I hadn’t seen her for many years but we’d been childhood friends before/during our school years at Brant Argyle. We met at about age 5 when we’d ride our bikes back & forth to visit. We had some shenanigans; climbing into the East view barn loft, playing with her pet raccoon, picnicking in her caboose playhouse or an empty granary. I’m sure Betty could hear the echoes of our voices in the tin granary! Rest easy Lisa. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Tracy Dunstan (nee Snell) (Childhood Friend) on: Mar 22, 2025
