On March 19, 2025, Victoria Platonida Catton (nee Oliynek) passed away peacefully at the age of 88, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her loving husband Gordon Catton, sons, Guy Catton (Sian) and Gord Catton, grandchildren, Bryn (Samantha) and Rhian (Eric). Victoria was predeceased by parents Rev. H.S. and Mrs. Domnika (Dora) Oliynek (Vitsku), and brothers. Arthur Oliynek and Rev. Harry E. Oliynek.
Victoria attended schools in Smokey Lake, AB, Gardenton, MB, Komarno, MB, Sacred Heart in Yorkton, SK and Normal School in Tuxedo, MB. Victoria taught in Manitoba at Striy School (Armstrong) and Phoenix School (Headingley) as well as in Cooks Creek. After her marriage to Gordon in 1959 she continued supply teaching in Montreal, QC and Moncton, NB. Together Victoria and Gordon lived across Canada and spent many years travelling North America, making lifelong friends along the way.
Victoria was known for her creative talents in hand-quilting, sewing, painting and pysanky artistry. She will be remembered for her vibrant and colourful personality.

Celebration of Life to be held at Grafton Legion, Ontario on Saturday, March 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
