WILLIAM NORMAN (NORM) WOODWARD

July 2, 1947 - March 29, 2025

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Norm Woodward, loving husband, father and grandpa.

Norm is survived by his wife Joan, son David and grandson Connor Woodward, daughter-in-law Tracy, daughter Laura and son-in-law Joe Normand and grandchildren, Graham Normand and Kaylene Normand. He is also survived by his in-laws, Lou McCorrie, Marilyn Wusaty, Patsy Hadden, Bruce (Laurie) McCorrie, Ernie Ducharme and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norm was predeceased by his parents, John and Emma Woodward, mother-in-law Mabel McCorrie, daughter-in-law Heather Favell-Woodward, sisters-in-law, Nancy Ducharme and Donna McPherson and brothers-in-law, Robert McCorrie, Adolph Kretchmer, Doug McCorrie, Dougie Hadden, Don McPherson and Alex Wusaty.

Norm was born in Wawota, Saskatchewan and raised on the family farm in Redvers. Norm married the love of his life Joan McCorrie on November 15, 1969.

Norm started a career with Woolco in Regina in 1965. He was with the company for 47 years before retiring from Wal-Mart in Winnipeg.

Norm was a quiet, powerful man who was always making plans. He was a thoughtful advisor who embraced people as they were. He was loved and respected by many. He was always teaching and helping. Norm was grateful for and appreciated the simple blessings in life, especially time with family. He will be deeply missed.

Norm enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, bird watching and spending time at the cottage at Buffalo Point. Other hobbies over the years included woodworking, curling, baseball and cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Jets. In his retirement, he enjoyed visits to the casino and puzzles. Norm was a proud and devoted grandpa, who enthusiastically attended graduations, concerts and sporting events to support Graham, Kaylene and Connor.

As Norm wished, there will be no service. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to express thanks to the doctors, nurses, health care aides and other staff at St. Boniface Hospital (6E), including Dr. M. Mittlestadt and CancerCare Manitoba. Appreciation is also expressed to Dr. Doan for his care of Norm over the years.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Norm was a great neighbor and a great person. We lived across the street from Joan and Norm for many years. Our youngest used to ride his bigwheels down our driveway and up their driveway to spend time chatting with Norm. He will be greatly missed. Condolences to the whole family. We are feeling your loss. Joan, Barry, Chris and Jason. - Posted by: Joan Nielson (Neighbor) on: Apr 06, 2025

  • Norm, Thank you for accepting me into your life and giving me a tiny little spot. The mutual respect and your quiet (usually) steadfastness will always be remembered. Your wife Joan, children David and Laura are a testament to the man that you were. I know you will be watching down smiling still of their accomplishments and those of your beloved grandchildren with pride well deserved. You will be missed in body, but not in spirit for you’ll always have a special place in the hearts of many 🥰 - Posted by: Cora Muzik (Friend) on: Apr 06, 2025
