JACK DOWSETT
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jack, at the age of 67.
Jack passed peacefully on March 20, 2025, with his spouse by his side. He fought pancreatic cancer with courage, humility, and a touch of humour.
Left to cherish his memory are his spouse of 18 years, Monique Berard, countless friends, relatives, acquaintances, and neighbours. Jack was loved and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, please honour Jack by making a memorial donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society in his name.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care staff for the care and compassion shown to Jack during his stay at Riverview Hospital.

Jack came to work for me approx. a year before he had to quit due to his illness. Even though he struggled to come to work near the end he wouldn't stop until he could barely walk and the job was complete. Never a whimper or complaint and I couldn't force him to go home and rest. I've had many employees over the past 55 years but very few stand out like Jack. I could count on him being first on the job everyday full of life and laughter and always up for any job and ready for anything that came his way. It's difficult to describe the impact he's left on me and the workers who became friends at PAL. I only wish I had met him 55 years ago as I can't put in words the feelings I have for him. I love you Jack. To everyone that knew him he was Truly one of a kind. My condolences. Rest now my Friend. Very sad to hear of Jack’s passing. Jack was my brother Mike’s long time best friend. They shared many times and laughs together (and probably some shenanigans!). Jack would affectionately call me “Magoo”. Ironically we had a dog called Magoo so maybe it wasn’t a great nickname after all! Lol. Jack will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Although sad that he is gone, I have no doubt that Mike was excited to meet up with his best friend again. Sending much love, thoughts and prayers to you Monique. - Posted by: Missy Penner (Friend) on: Apr 18, 2025

I am so sorry to hear about Jack’s passing. He and I were classmates in elementary school. I often stopped in to his house on Campbell to visit with him and his Mom. I remember fondly him teaching me how to blow bubbles with chewing gum! - Posted by: Cathy Watt (Elementary school classmate) on: Apr 05, 2025

I met Jack on my first day with the city at Century Arena in 1982! I have many great memories with Jack during those days. Boxing, curling, hockey Jack was a natural athlete! He was a good friend and had a heart of gold! Few years back he came to my aunt Joan celebration of life! It was so good to see him and re connect with him.
