On the afternoon of March 28, 2025 Barrie Glenn Brooks, age 85, passed away at Grace Hospital where he received exceptional care until the end.
He was predeceased by his wife Julia, his son Christopher and daughter Barbara.
He leaves to mourn his daughter Carol (Tim), son Ken (Cxene), grandchildren, Allyssa (Ari), Brooklyne (Dylan), Edison (Alyssa), Gregory and great-grandchildren, Jasper and Erik.
Though Dad’s main trade for many years was a heavy-duty mechanic, he was a master of all trades for repairs and renovations. He could fix pretty much anything and would help anyone that asked for help.
He was kind and generous and the master of all Dad Joke’s. He loved his family and friends and was a proud man.
Though, in the last decade, he was unable to communicate verbally, he was able to "voice" his requests, concerns and opinions by writing them down or by hand gestures like thumbs up or thumbs down.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W. with reception to follow.

Barrie and Al met in the 1980's. Became friends, fishing buds and helped with so many renos, mechanical repairs and any and everthing - just needed to ask and offer each other a hand. Help was always just a smile away. Time, circumstance and distance separates but knowing We had such a friend made us weathly beyond measure. His memory is never lost.
