REID WILFRED MACDONALD

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Reid Wilfred MacDonald after a lengthy illness with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 2, 2025, at the age of 80.

Reid is remembered by his loving and devoted wife, Gladys of 58 years, along with his three children: Craig (Xenia), Kevin (Laurenda), and Laura (Chad). To his grandchildren he was known as "Papa," and there was no better one around. He will be missed dearly by his grandchildren: Claire, Danny, Victoria, Dustin, Tanner, and Brody. Reid will also be remembered by his sister Catherine, brothers, Kerry and Dennis, many nieces and nephews, and longtime friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his mother Evelyn, his grandmother Violet, and his grandfather Wilfred.

Reid was a loyal employee of Winnipeg Transit, working in the public relations department for 30 years. He had many interests and hobbies. He loved family gatherings, camping, fishing, bird watching, reading the newspaper, dancing, and music. Reid was a big fan of the Jets, Bombers, and Vikings. He always looked forward to golf season and hitting the course with his buddies, the "Rogues.”

Together with Gladys, Reid built a beautiful life and he was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren. He supported, encouraged, and celebrated them in everything they did. It brought him great joy to coach them, and to watch them on the ice, on the field, and in their school concerts and plays.

We would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at Golden Links Lodge for their compassionate care and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Rest in peace, and enjoy the endless rounds of golf.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My condolences to Gladys and family. In our younger days Reid was a very good friend. We spent a lot of time together with him and my girlfriend at the time, Donna Murray. I was an Usher at his wedding, but unfortunately had a falling out shortly after. I’m glad to see he had a happy life surrounded by family. - Posted by: Rick McGill (Friend) on: Jun 22, 2025

  • Reid taught me to drive and I am forever grateful as it led to an employment opportunity and start in Canada. My sincerest Condolences to Gladys and family. - Posted by: Alana (Family friend) on: Apr 12, 2025
