It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maureen Jeannie Mills, aged 83, at Middlechurch Care Home, after a brave battle with Dementia.
Maureen is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, James W. Mills. She will be deeply missed by her children, Brent Mills (Kim Shaw), Grant Mills (Heather), and Marnie Holm (Lloyd), as well as her ex-daughter-in-law, Rhonda Mills. Her grandchildren, Tyson Bzdell (Ashley), Brandon Mills (Mileena), Jessica Mills (Sam), and Lou Holm (Halli), were a great source of pride and joy for her.
Maureen was also cherished by her siblings, Joanne (Ron) Bieganowski, Reggie Slessor, Pat Chabluk (Jim), and Nancy Long, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Joyce, and sister-in-law, Debbie Slessor.
Maureen called Tyndall, Manitoba, home for nearly 50 years, where she created a home and garden she loved deeply, always with her dog at her side. It was her dream to remain there forever, and she took great pride in her surroundings.
Those who knew Maureen would describe her as a powerhouse of strength, personality, and determination. Though she may have been small in stature, her ambition, confidence, and drive were immense. Maureen believed that you could do or be anything you set your mind to, as long as you were willing to put in the hard work.
Her early life was not without challenges, but it only made her more resolute in pursuing her passions. Whether it was mastering the art of sewing, creating beautiful tapestries and quilts, building furniture and structures, re-upholstering furniture and car seats with incredible precision, or working on classic cars with her husband, Maureen was unstoppable. She was a natural-born artist, and her creations will be cherished for years to come.
In the 1980s, Maureen started a business called Canadian Mechanical Specialty Finders, which she later rebranded as CMS. She and James worked together, and the company has been thriving for over 40 years. Today, the business is proudly run by their eldest son, Brent.
Maureen's legacy of hard work, creativity, and love will live on in all of us who had the privilege of knowing her.
A special thank you to the staff at Middlechurch Care Home for their compassionate care during Maureen's final days.
She will be deeply missed
and never forgotten.

It's take me a while to decide what I wanted to say about "Mom". First off, my deepest condolences to my best friend since kindergarten, Marnie, my "Dad", Jim, my other brothers, Brent and Grant and all of their families. Throughout my younger years, I was probably at their house more than I was at home. She was a pretty laid-back Mom. She often let me get away with stuff that I wouldn't have been able to at home. She treated all of her kid's friends like family. She was not afraid to tell us when we screwed up and would call us out on it. She had some some of the best tapestry I have ever seen, and was very talented in that art as well as sewing and gardening. Some of my greatest memories of her was leaving Marnie and myself in her car, after we went to a movie and was winning at the casino. She paid us off, for keeping us out so late. She'd be working on her tapestry, with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, ashes hanging off the cigarette, as long as you can imagine. Marnie or I would go by and tap the top of her head so the ashes would fall on her. She often sat by the pool with us, to keep an eye out, as I couldn't swim well at the time. She definitely made the best Scottish Shortbread and grape jelly. She definitely knew how to tear up a dance floor! You knew you were family, when she didn't hold back her words, just because you were there. I have and will continue to definitely miss her "Jesus Christ, Jim" and her "What the hell is wrong with you assholes". Rest in Peace, Mom. - Posted by: Barb Froese (Greschuk) (Family friend) on: Jun 28, 2025

Maureen and Jim quickly became close friends with my parents after they moved to Tyndall. Maureen was incredibly generous with her time and always ready to help her friends. I will always treasure the stunning reproduction painting she gifted us of our wedding invitation. She had such a warm heart and was like a second mom to many of the hockey kids in our community. Rest easy, Maureen—you've earned it. I hope all your beloved fur babies were there to welcome you first! - Posted by: Leanne Schmidt (Bodnarchuk) (family friend) on: Apr 12, 2025

Maureen and I became fast friends shortly after she moved to Tyndall. She would take the kids to school, then stop in for coffee. If there was something I didn't know in sewing or painting, Maureen knew how. I learned so much from her and will never forget her friendship. Jim and Alan became fast friends because of the cars. I will cherish the wooden jewelery box she made for me and hope she knew how much it meant to me. . When I start a project I often think of how Maureen would do it as she knew almost everything when it came to projects. I hope you are at peace. You were a wonderful friend. Our Condolences to all the family. I grew up with all of them and swam in there pool in summer as well as a few parties here and there part of growing up in the 80'S the best time to grow up in Tyndall area. Maureen was tough and loving to her kids as well as others they brought around there was no doubt she was the boss even not being tall enough to overlook you. There is one thing that always amazed me about her she could touch the tip of her nose with her tongue. A little fun fact for you!! - Posted by: Neil Armstrong (friend) on: Apr 12, 2025
